Colourful Iceland

This is not a B&W image. This is the sun pooling on the earth. That’s liquid sun there.

It’s black pupil is Iceland. It is watching the night sky. People walk across the eye, this way and that. Some take boats across the sun. They drop lines and nets and pull up the fish of the moon. In Vík, on the South Coast, eternity is never far.

Home on Earth

I made it! I went to a farm near the end of a valley in a remote part of Iceland, and found my way home. I now have two homes on this earth. Just look at them both in this spring full of light. First, my home in the middle of the North Atlantic …

That’s cooked volcanic clay as a streambed. Here they are again, in a view from a mammal that can’t seem to hold steady or stop breathing and that left its tripod back in the car, but maybe it’s best that way …

Through such attention the planet sees itself. I love that.

The Sea is A Living Thing

All the rest? The trees, the horses, the humans, the cod, the arctic terns, the chickens? They are all carrying a replica of life within them, but the sea is life itself. Instead of saying “life”, we could just say “sea”. And the land? Ah, now, now that is a story of humans and other people. I’ll tell it tomorrow.
